Punit's mother, Indrani Balan played a significant role in shaping his thoughts. It was she who taught Punit life is not about accumulating, it is about contributing. Giving back having become an integral part of Punit's life which led to the establishment of the Indrani Balan Foundation (IBF). The IBF has contributed substantially in the field of education by adopting 11 schools in Kashmir(out of which two are for special children) with the Indian Army, adopted a Girls home in Jammu housing orphans in Jammu and Kashmir, fund schools, made 5800 libraries across Maharastra , distributed over 5000 computers and 10000 bicycles to make commute easy for students across Maharashtra. Built a research center for IISER, distributed 750 tons of food grains and essentials during the Covid pandemic along with extending financial support to backstage artists, newspaper vendors etc. The IBF is determined to bring about a positive change and will continue to work towards it.
